A blue 14 AWG power cord with a standard North American NEMA 5-15P wall plug on one end and an IEC 60320 C15 connector on the other, rated 15A at 125V. The C15 is the high-temperature member of the C13 family: same outline, but with a notch below the earth pin and a 120 °C rating, which is why equipment that runs hot specifies it. The blue jacket exists so you can trace one circuit across a crowded rack or bench at a glance.

What it's for
- Data-centre and rack equipment whose inlet is a C16 — switches, some PoE injectors, environmental gear.
- Kitchen and lab equipment that runs warm: electric kettles, urns, heated plates, sterilisers.
- Replacing a lost or damaged OEM cord on anything that shipped with a notched C15 connector.
- A C14 inlet that you would rather feed with a higher-temperature cord than a plain C13.
Good to know
Will a C15 connector fit a normal C14 inlet?
Yes. The notch on a C15 is an extra cut-out, so the connector still seats on a standard C14 inlet as well as a C16. The reverse is not true — a plain C13 cord will not fit a notched C16 inlet, because the ridge on the inlet blocks it.
C15 or C13 — which do I need?
Look at the inlet on the equipment. A ridge below the earth pin means C16, and only a C15 will fit. A plain inlet is a C14 and takes either. If in doubt a C15 is the safer buy, since it fits both.
What does 14 AWG mean here?
AWG is conductor thickness, and the scale runs backwards — a lower number is a thicker wire. At 14 AWG this cord is built to carry its rated 15A at 125V without the conductors heating up. A thinner cord with a higher AWG number carries less current.
What is a SJT jacket?
SJT is a thermoplastic-jacketed, hard-service cord — the heavier, more abrasion-resistant jacket used on equipment and rack cords.
How much load can I actually put on it?
The cord is rated 15A at 125V. The usual engineering practice is to keep a continuous load at or below 80% of a circuit or cord rating and leave headroom for inrush when equipment powers on, so size the cord to the equipment rather than to the outlet.
