This cable takes a DisplayPort output on your computer and feeds a DVI-D input on a monitor. The signal flows one way only, from the DisplayPort end into the DVI display. It exists to keep a working DVI monitor in service after you replace the computer driving it, since new machines rarely have DVI outputs any more.

FAQ
Does this work in both directions? No. It converts from DisplayPort out to the other format only. It will not take an HDMI, DVI or VGA source and feed a DisplayPort monitor. For that you need a converter built for the opposite direction.
Will sound come through? No. DVI carries video only and has no audio channel, so nothing you connect this way will pass sound. That is normal for DVI, not a fault with the cable. Use your computer's headphone jack, USB speakers or another audio output instead.
What does single link mean for resolution? This is a single link DVI-D connection, which is why the limit here is 1920x1080 at 60Hz. It is the right fit for standard 1080p DVI monitors.
