Good to know

C19 and C20 — what is the difference?
C19 is the connector on the cord; C20 is the inlet on the equipment. They mate with each other. C19 will not fit a C14 inlet, and a C13 will not fit a C20 — the two families are deliberately not interchangeable.

Why is a C19 cord bigger?
The C19/C20 pairing is rated for higher current than C13/C14, so the contacts and the conductors are larger. That is the whole point of the connector: it signals, physically, that this device needs a heavier feed.

What does 14 AWG mean here?
AWG is conductor thickness, and the scale runs backwards — a lower number is a thicker wire. At 14 AWG this cord is built to carry its rated 15A at 125V without the conductors heating up. A thinner cord with a higher AWG number carries less current.

What is a SJT jacket?
SJT is a thermoplastic-jacketed, hard-service cord — the heavier, more abrasion-resistant jacket used on equipment and rack cords.

How much load can I actually put on it?
The cord is rated 15A at 125V. The usual engineering practice is to keep a continuous load at or below 80% of a circuit or cord rating and leave headroom for inrush when equipment powers on, so size the cord to the equipment rather than to the outlet.
