How do I tell C5 from C7?
Count the lobes. A C5 inlet has three rounded lobes in a clover shape and includes an earth connection; a C7 has two lobes and no earth. They do not interchange.

Does the grounded version matter?
If the device has a C6 inlet, it was designed for an earthed supply and should be given one. Do not substitute a two-pin cord by forcing a different connector.

What does 18 AWG mean here?
AWG is conductor thickness, and the scale runs backwards — a lower number is a thicker wire. At 18 AWG this cord is built to carry its rated 10A at 125V without the conductors heating up. A thinner cord with a higher AWG number carries less current.

What is a SVT jacket?
SVT is a lighter thermoplastic jacket rated for service duty — flexible, and normal for notebook and small-appliance cords.

How much load can I actually put on it?
The cord is rated 10A at 125V. The usual engineering practice is to keep a continuous load at or below 80% of a circuit or cord rating and leave headroom for inrush when equipment powers on, so size the cord to the equipment rather than to the outlet.
