The two-prong "figure-8" cord: a non-polarized NEMA 1-15P plug to an IEC 60320 C7 connector, 18 AWG in a flat SPT-2 jacket, rated 7A at 125V. It is the cord that goes to a laptop power brick, a games console, a radio or a small media player — anything with the twin-lobed C8 inlet and no earth pin.

18/2 UL SPT-2 105°C BLACK COLOR NEMA 1-15P TO IEC-60320-C7

  • This non-polarized power cord is designed for laptops, VCRs, DVD players and other devices that use a 2-slot non-polarized cord.
  • This heavy duty 18 AWG power cord is fully molded for durability.
  • Ideal solution for replacing damaged, overused or missing power cords.
  • UL, cUL listed and CSA approved.
  • All relevant materials are complied with RoHS and REACH directive.

Good to know

What is "non-polarized" and does it matter?
A non-polarized C7 has two rounded lobes, so the connector can go in either way round. The polarized version has one squared-off lobe and only fits one way. A non-polarized cord fits a non-polarized inlet only — check the shape of the socket on your device before ordering.

Why is there no earth pin?
Devices that take a C7 cord are double-insulated, so they are designed to work safely without an earth connection. That is why the plug has two flat blades rather than three.

Is this the same as a "cloverleaf" cord?
No — the cloverleaf, or "Mickey Mouse", cord is a three-pin C5 and is a different connector entirely. If your inlet has three round lobes, you need the C5 cord instead.

What does 18 AWG mean here?
AWG is conductor thickness, and the scale runs backwards — a lower number is a thicker wire. At 18 AWG this cord is built to carry its rated 7A at 125V without the conductors heating up. A thinner cord with a higher AWG number carries less current.

What is a SPT-2 jacket?
SPT-2 is a flat parallel thermoplastic jacket, the construction used for two-conductor appliance and lamp-style cords.

How much load can I actually put on it?
The cord is rated 7A at 125V. The usual engineering practice is to keep a continuous load at or below 80% of a circuit or cord rating and leave headroom for inrush when equipment powers on, so size the cord to the equipment rather than to the outlet.
