This cable takes a DisplayPort output on your computer and feeds an HDMI input on a monitor, TV or projector. The signal flows one way only, from the DisplayPort end into the HDMI display. It is the straightforward, inexpensive answer when your computer has DisplayPort and the screen in front of you has HDMI.

FAQ

Does this work in both directions? No. It converts from DisplayPort out to the other format only. It will not take an HDMI, DVI or VGA source and feed a DisplayPort monitor. For that you need a converter built for the opposite direction.

Is 4K at 30Hz going to look bad? It depends on what you are doing. At 30Hz a 4K picture is perfectly usable for presentations, digital signage and general desktop work such as documents and email. It looks noticeably less smooth for video playback, fast games and even ordinary mouse movement. If you want 4K at 120Hz or 8K, choose our DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 cable instead.

Does it carry audio? HDMI carries audio as well as video, so sound can travel to the display if your computer is set to send it there and the display has speakers.
