A converter that takes an HDMI output and turns it into VGA, with a separate 3.5mm audio output so sound is not lost along the way. The HDMI male end plugs into a computer, laptop, tablet or similar source, and the VGA (HD15) female end accepts the cable running to a monitor or projector. It is the part you need when a current laptop has to drive an older display or a meeting room projector that only offers VGA.

FAQ

Does it carry audio, or only picture? Both. The converter has a 3.5mm audio port and transmits audio and video signals at the same time, which matters because VGA is video only.

Do I have to plug in the micro USB? It is there for sources with low power output, such as an Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display. If your device cannot supply enough power through the HDMI port on its own, use the micro USB input.

What resolution can I get out of it? VGA output runs up to 1080p, and the analogue video output reaches UXGA and 1080p using a 10-bit DAC. The HDMI input side handles 165MHz, which is 1.65Gbps per channel or 6.75Gbps across all channels.
