This is a 1000 ft box of Cat6A riser rated bulk cable built for permanent indoor structured cabling. The 23 AWG solid bare copper conductors terminate into keystone jacks and patch panels for voice, data, video and security runs in a home, office or campus. The CMR riser jacket is what sets it apart, so the same box covers both flat in wall runs and the vertical runs between floors that a plain CM cable cannot legally serve.
Specifications
- Category: Cat6A (Augmented Category 6)
- Conductors: 23 AWG solid bare copper, 8 conductors in 4 twisted pairs
- Shielding: unshielded twisted pair (UTP)

Good for
- Wiring a multi storey office or apartment building where cable has to pass from floor to floor through a riser or shaft
- Rough in on a new build or remodel, pulling drops through walls back to a patch panel in a utility room
- Running 10 Gigabit uplinks to ceiling access points and IP cameras across distances up to 100 meters
Which jacket rating do I need?
- CM: general indoor use, run in open air or surface raceway on a single floor
- CMR riser: vertical runs between floors, through risers and shafts. Required by code where cable passes floor to floor
- CMP plenum: runs inside air handling spaces such as above a drop ceiling or under a raised floor. The strictest fire rating and usually what a commercial inspector asks for
- CMX outdoor: exposed outdoor runs, with a UV resistant jacket
This cable is CMR riser rated, which covers ordinary indoor runs and vertical runs between floors. Step up to CMP plenum if any part of the run passes through an air handling space such as above a drop ceiling or under a raised floor. Step across to CMX if the run leaves the building and is exposed outdoors. If every run is on one floor in open air or raceway, a CM cable would also do, but CMR costs little more and removes the question.
FAQ
Solid or stranded? Solid conductor cable is for permanent in wall runs terminated into keystone jacks or patch panels. Stranded cable flexes and is for patch cords that get moved. Using the wrong one is a common cause of intermittent links.
How is it packaged? A 1000 ft box that feeds the cable out as you run it, so it does not tangle or kink during a pull.
Does unshielded UTP really do 10 Gigabit? Yes. This cable is tested to 10 Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 meters and meets ANSI/TIA-568.2-D, which is the Cat6A standard for that reach. Shielded F/UTP is worth considering instead where runs sit alongside heavy electrical noise.
How do I keep track of how much I have pulled? The jacket carries sequential length markings, so you can read off the footage used on each drop and know what is left in the box.
